Imbolc Wassail
February 5, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Come and join us for a celebration of the first stirrings of spring in the earth at our Imbolc Wassail.
Traditionally wassailing took place around mid January. It’s an ancient British tradition involves making a LOT of noise to wake up the apple trees, to thank them for their crop and encourage a good crop this year.
Imbolc is the cross quarter festival between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox – it marks the coming to the end of winter, the first stirrings of spring in the earth. It is the festival presided over by the goddess Brigid – patron of springs, wells and hearth with close connections to midwives, crafts and artists.
We are inviting people to come and celebrate with us – you are welcome to come and help us prune the apple trees, there will be some craft activities for children, mulled apple juice, singing, music, and blessings for the trees and Chyan’s spring.
Meet at 2pm on the Community Field by the polytunnel. At 3pm, we will walk around the orchards and wassail, finishing at dusk.
